Nicole Jao is a Taiwan-based freelance journalist. She holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Nicole reported on the rapidly evolving technology space in Asia in the first few years of her career. However, she has since shifted her focus to one of the biggest issues of our time: climate change.
Hoping to advance her reporting work on the environment, Nicole will be pursuing her master's degree in Journalism with a science concentration at Columbia University this fall.
Previously, Nicole was a journalist at Tech in Asia, a Singapore-based media focusing on the technology and startup scene in Southeast Asia and China. She has also worked as a reporter for TechNode, TechCrunch's partner site in China, during her stint in Beijing and Shanghai. Her writings have also been published in Foreign Policy, Quartz, The News Lens, among others.
She was a climate ambassador for fossil fuel divestment organization 350.org in Taiwan.
